Ronald L. Sutton

December 11, 1943 ~ November 1, 2021 (age 77)


Ron Sutton, 77, of Junction passed away peacefully on Nov. 1, 2021, at his beloved lake house at Buchanan Dam. He was born December 11, 1943, in San Angelo, TX to Leonard and Dimple Sutton who were successful business owners in Junction for many years. Ron was raised in Junction and graduated from Junction High School. After earning his BBA from Baylor University, he went on to attend St. Mary’s Law School in San Antonio where he earned his Doctor of Jurisprudence—graduating Magna Cum Laude and receiving numerous accomplishments along the way. Ron began his career being selected and working as a briefing attorney on the Supreme Court of Texas before returning home to his roots in Kimble County. He was elected county attorney, and soon after was appointed district attorney by Dolf Briscoe where he served the people of the 198th Judicial District, which included Kimble, Kerr, Mason, Menard and McCulloch counties, for 32 years—retiring in 2008. Ron loved to bake and often shared his newest creations and recipes with everyone—especially coworkers and his church family. He was an avid collector and also enjoyed gardening, fishing and entertaining his many friends and family. He is survived by Diane, his wife of 31 years, son Robert Sutton and daughter Randi Sutton Herbst (Charles) of Junction, stepsons Eric Sutton (Tina) of Harper, Stacy Sutton (Kaylei) of Belton, grandchildren Zachary Herbst of Christoval, Brady Herbst of Stephenville, Katelynn Sutton (Gino) and Michael of Harper, and great-grandsons Carter Herbst of Christoval and Jackson Perez of Harper. He is preceded in death by his parents Leonard and Dimple and stepson Shawn. Services will be held Sunday, Nov. 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Junction under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home with Rev. Samuel Hunnicut officiating. A Masonic burial will follow at Junction Cemetery. Open visitation will be held Saturday afternoon Nov. 6, from 1:00-4:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for memorials in Ron’s memory to Trinity Episcopal Church, Kimble County Historical Museum or the charity of your choice.
