Wylie Leon Taff, 78, of London, Texas, resident of Kimble County since 1972, passed from this life on August 29, 2017 in Laughlin, Nevada.

Wylie was born August 4, 1939 to Isaac Wylie and Katie Laura (Bolt) Taff in Eden, TX, and he was raised in Brady. He enlisted in the Army National Guard at the age of 15 and served from April 15, 1954 - August 9, 1956 with an honorable discharge. At the age of 17 he enlisted in the US Army and served in the US Army Airborne from August 9, 1956 - July 30, 1959 with an honorable discharge. He then continued to serve his country in the US Army Reserves until July 30, 1965. He married Cliffa Jean "C.J." Lankford in 1962 and they had two children, Lisa in March 1963 and Doyle in March 1964. His primary occupation was as a turbine engine mechanic, any mechanical rotating equipment, millwright work, quality control inspector in various plant constructions throughout the southwest, including Johnston Island in the South Pacific, where the department of defense security clearance was required. He worked in the Gulf Coast states, St. Croix, US Virgin Islands, North Dakota, Kansas and Oklahoma. He did mechanic work as well as being the supervisor of many jobs. He was also a realtor and worked for RD Kothman for 20 plus years. He ran for Kimble County Commissioner in 2008 and won.

Wylie was a member of the Masonic Lodge (1968), Dallas Scottish Rite (1968), Suez Shrine (1982), Order of the Easter Star (1982), Kimble County Dance Club (1980), and the First Baptist Church of Junction for 40 plus years.

Wylie met Frances Taylor, and she has been his loving companion for the past 17 years - He loved her very much. He thought very highly of her daughter, Dee Ann and husband Lem Loeffler and their son, Larkin. Wylie loved Larkin with all his heart and spent a lot of time with him the last several years.

Wylie is preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Maxine Ray Taff, Jo Wandolyn Evans and husband Wilford Gaile "Cotton" Evans; granddaughter, Kalee Suzanne Taff; and his dog, Cha"Queta".

Those left to honor his memory include sister, Doris Jean Summers and husband Doyle Clifton of Midland; brother, George Mack Taff, II and wife Marianne of Rising Star; daughter, Lisa Rayna Valverde and husband Carl of Center Point; son, Doyle Clifton Taff of Ozona; grandchildren, Tamarah Michelle Williams and husband Shane of Canyon Lake, Jeremy Quinn Olsen of Austin, Cody Dean Valverde of San Antonio, Kassen Doyle Taff of Junction, Kinsey Mikayla Sparks and husband Dalton of Junction; great-grandchildren, Lane, Chance Tyler, Ethan and Aden Lyric Williams, Darion Schiesl Olsen, Daelen Alexander, Kali Lynn, Zander Cade and Elijah Clark Olsen, Issaya Nathaniel Valverde, Logan Wylie Taff, and Rileigh Bennett; nieces and nephews, Hal Evans, Paul Evans, Gayle Smart Evans, George Mack "Mackie" Taff III, and Richard Taff; and many, many friends. Wylie loved his family very much, and they loved him and will miss him dearly.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Junction with Lee Roy Loeffler officiating. Interment will follow at 2:00 PM, at Rest Haven Cemetery in Brady with Masonic Rites and Military Honors.

Pallbearers will be Paul Evans, Kassen Taff, Jeremy Olsen, Lem Loeffler, Cody Valverde, and Dalton Sparks. Honorary pallbearer will be Larkin Loeffler.

Memorials may be made to the London GIG Kids or to a veteran's charity of choice.
