William McDonald, Sr.

William Clenton McDonald was born July 27, 1944 in Junction, TX to Ivy and Lillie McDonald.  Clenton was the middle son with two older brothers, Rogers and Melton, and two younger brothers Ernest and Alfred.  He also had a sister Gracie Flanagan.  At an early age Clenton began working in the family business of chopping cedar.  Hard work was a way of life.

In August of 1964 Clenton married Gwendolyn Ruth Whitlock and they had three children William Clinton McDonald Jr, Vickie Ruth McDonald and Raymond Ray McDonald.

Clenton worked for the PAKS Corporation for just over 30 years and retired in 2001.  In 1975 Clenton lost much of his right index finger in an industrial accident.  Not letting this slow him down, the missing finger was a constant source of jokes entertainment for him.  Clenton was always a hard worker and usually had a side-job or two.  He was a scrapper; in that he would scrap just about anything for the metals and sell it to the recyclers.  Usually saving the more valuable loads for new school clothes and Christmas gifts for his children.  In the early 1980’s he and Gwen owned and operated the Rose Night Club, and in the early 1990’s they owned and operated Ray’s Corner Grocery.   After retirement Clenton kept busy working for a while as caretaker of the Shortstop Car Wash and as a collector.  He loved visiting yard and estate sales looking for old tools and other older items to add to his collection.

Clenton was preceded in death by his wife, parents and siblings.  He is survived by Son, William “Clint” McDonald Jr; Daughter, Vickie Teel, Grandson, Bucky McDonald and wife Kayla, three great grandchildren, Kevin, Savannah and Koda; Son, Raymond McDonald and wife Christina.

Clenton will always be remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and devotion to his family.
