Virginia Chandler, 85, of Junction, Texas, passed away on Monday, November 17, 2014, in Junction, Texas. A memorial service will be 2:00 PM, Friday, November 21, at First Baptist Church Junction, Texas with the Reverend Lewis Allen and Pastor Ken Bolton officiating. Virginia was born July 8, 1929 in Rutland, Vermont to parents Samuel Stevens and Margaret Jane Gation Brooks.

Virginia graduated from Danbury High School in Danbury, Connecticut where she was the president of the National Honor Society and coeditor of the senior annual. She grew up in Connecticut and Maine where she worked peeling pulpwood on the family farm and selling shoes in New York City in the summer. She earned a bachelors degree and teachers certification from Western Connecticut State University in 1951.

In 1953 her family moved to Austin, Texas where she met Toliver Albert Chandler II and they were married in 1954 and moved to Ft. Worth in 1955. In 1960 Virginia and T.A. moved to London, Texas where she taught the first through fifth grades in the old London school. In 1961 the London school consolidated with Junction Independent School District and they moved to Junction where Virginia taught fifth grade. When kindergarten was established by the Texas legislature Virginia became the first kindergarten teacher for JISD where she taught until retirement in 1992.
Virginia was active in First Baptist Church where she sang in the choir, she was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and will be greatly missed.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, sister Dawn Brooks Sims, and son Toliver Albert Chandler III.

She is survived by her husband: T.A. Chandler, son Timothy Brooks Chandler and his wife Ginger, two grandchildren, Brittany Arbour of Baton Rouge, Louisana and Logan Chandler of Abilene, and two brothers, Corrin and Brian Brooks.
