Vina Nail

Vina Mae Adams Nail was born in Sonora, Texas, on October 3, 1934 and went to her heavenly home on January 21, 2015, in Junction. Family visitation will be Thursday, January 22, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Kimble Funeral Home. Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church on Friday, January 23 at 2:00 p.m. with burial in the Junction Cemetery. Reverends Jim and Laurie Barker and Ken Bolton will officiate.

Vina grew up on the Adams Ranch which bordered Big Bend National Park and Black Gap Game Preserve, along the Rio Grande River in Brewster County. She was the oldest of five children and always considered herself as the boss. She was the older sister to Preston, Doug, Fae LaRae and Elba, Jr. who always looked up to her.
Her first job was as a waitress at the Gage Hotel in Marathon, where she was approached by "those old movie people" to ride as a double for Elizabeth Taylor in the Movie, Giant, which was being filmed near Marfa. She turned them down but all who knew her said she could ride like an Indian at that time.

Vina married Clifton Nail on May 19, 1956, in Marathon, Texas, where they lived for five years. They moved their family to Fort Stockton in 1961 and remained there until 1967 when they purchased The Little Store in Junction. Vina operated The Little Store for about 30 years. She has always said that her happiest years were running the store and being with all of the kids and teachers who ate there.
Family members who preceded her in death were her parents, Buddie and Elba Adams, her husband, Clifton Nail and her grandson, Jacob Nail.

She is survived by her children, Paul and Debbie Bierschwale, Elba and Cheryl Nail and Buzzy and Candy Bierschwale. She is also survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, all of whom she was very proud of: Aaron and Tiffany Bierschwale and children, Bode and Taya; Justin and Carmen Bierschwale and children, Jade, Brock and Koda; Josh and Kim Nail and children, Breana, Mickey, Nathaniel and Jack; and Colt Brandenberger. She is also survived by her brothers and sister and their families, numerous nieces and nephews, many cousins and most of all extended family developed through her years of service to school children of Junction and being a friend to everyone she met.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hill Country Care Center or Meals on Wheels.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kimble Funeral Home (325)446-3076
