Rosa Crawford

Junction Rosa Pauline Payne Crawford went to be with the Lord on November 11, 2011 in Junction, Tx. Pauline was born to Cecil Elbert Payne and Nellie Elizabeth Steadman in Itasca, Tx on May 4, 1923.

Pauline married Jack C. Crawford on March 10, 1946 in Snyder, Tx. She was preceeded in death by Jack in 1984. Also preceeding her in death were her parents and one brother, Zane Payne.

During WWII Pauline moved away from home for the first time to help with the war effort by working in a manufacturing company in Sweetwater, Tx. Shortly after the war Jack returned from France and he and Pauline married. They had many adventures together one of which was moving to what is now Bangladesh with their three children. Jack, in cooperation with the Ford Foundation, was sent to teach industrial arts to the Pakastani people.

Pauline spent most of her married life in Alpine, tx where Jack was an industrial arts professor at Sul Ross State University. Pauline worked as a billing clerk in the city offices of Alpine. This was her first encounter with a computer she referred to as big bertha. After her retirement she spent many hours volunteering for meals for the elderly and the hospital auxillary. Pauline also helped the disabled elderly in their homes. Pauline moved to Junction, Tx in 1997 where she attended College Street Church of Christ. As was her way, she ly made new friends and opened an alteration business from her home. As she so aptly put it, she couldnt sit around and hold her hands. Pauline became a part of the Hill Country Care Center family several years ago and loved the staff and new friends she made while there. She was the happiest when she was spending special times with her family and friends.

If there is one scripture from Gods word that personifies our mother it is, quotand the greatest in the kingdom shall be the servant of all.quot We know you are in a better place. We love you Mom.
