Robert Marion Blackard

Robert Marion Blackard peacefully went to the Lord on April 22, 2024.  His loving wife was by his side as she had been for 59 years.

Bob was born January 18, 1941 in Tulia, Texas to Clifton and Agnes Blackard, known to their friends as Shorty and Aggie.  He graduated from Junction High School in 1959 and went on to North Texas University where he graduated in 1964 before pursuing a career in accounting.   He and Gloria Keith were married on October 10, 1964.

Growing up in Junction, Bob enjoyed the river and fishing as a way of life which he continued as long as he was physically able. Bob’s grandfather and father encouraged this and altogether it has been passed down through six generations.   Between the Llano River and Port Aransas; he had a wonderful life holding a fishing rod with camping being a close second.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria; their three sons and their wives, Jeffrey and Judy, Gregory and Anotai, and Kelby and Jennifer; his sister, Ann Boisse of San Angelo, Texas.

Bob was the proud grandparent of eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his special pets, April, Missy, and Maggie.

Honorary pallbearers are nieces and nephews, Scott Kerns, Don Kerns, Matthew Kerns, Chrissy Munoz, Tawana Boisse, Tulisha Bennett, Casey Bennett and his especially close friends, Freddie Schoolcraft and David Dobbins who were all so important to him.

In Lieu of flowers; Bob was a long-standing member of the Lions Club and was proud to be a member of such a worthy organization that continues to serve the community so well.  He had the true heart of a lion; suggested memorials would be the Junction Lions Club or the charity of your choice.

A visitation will be held at 1pm on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at the First Baptist Church of Junction. The Memorial Service to honor Bob will begin at 2pm with the internment to immediately follow at the Junction City Cemetery.

Services with integrity, pride, and honor are under the direction of Kimble Funeral Home.  (325) 446-3076
