Richard Denvor Young, 80, of Junction, Texas went to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on May 8, 2026. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2026 from 5:00 – 7:00 PM at the Kimble Funeral Home at 1010 College Street, Junction, Texas. Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, May 13, 2026 at the Junction City Cemetery beginning at 1:30 PM.
Richard was born in 1945 to JD and Faye Young (both deceased) in Monahans, Texas, and grew up in Crane, Texas. Richard has two brothers, Royse and Sam (both deceased), and one sister, Loretta Weathersbee of San Angelo.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alma Maud (Timms) Young; his sons, Ira and Sheridan, his daughter, Brandi with son-in-law Aaron; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and too many nieces and nephews to count. Richard’s daughter Ouida Faye Young preceded him in death.
Richard entered the US Army in August of 1967. He served two tours in Vietnam, and tours in South Korea, Fort Richarson, Alaska, and Fort Hood, Texas. Richard served 20 years and 6 months as a Petroleum Service Specialist, and retired as a Master Sergeant on December 31, 1987. Among his many military awards, Richard earned the Meritorious Service Medal, three Army Commendation Medals, and several campaign and foreign service medals.
Richard was an avid fisherman and hunter, but later in life he loved watching his “pet deer” from his front porch. He loved taking fishing trips with his family and friends, and trips to Horseshoe with his kids and grandkids.
