Melanie Maddux

Melanie Sue Maddux, 57, of Granbury TX, passed away on Wednesday, June 6, 2018 after a long and hard fought battle with Cancer.

Melanie was born on September 26, 1960 in Odessa, Texas to Larry and Susie Maddux. Arriving into this world with numerous birth defects, she overcame pessimistic predictions for her very survival. With much love and support from her family and talented professionals at Shrine Children's Hospital, she was chosen to serve as Poster Child for New Mexico's National Foundation of the March of Dimes in 1968. No stranger to the world of medicine, Melanie endured approximately 50 surgical and reconstructive procedures during her lifetime and was regarded by many of her physicians, therapists, oncologists and nurses as a model patient and someone who always had a smile for them despite situation or circumstance.

She graduated from Junction High School in 1980 and attended San Angelo Community College and worked for a number of years in the business office at Junction Independent School District. Melanie was very active throughout her life and was married for nine years. She relished her time as mother to her 4 step children and often commented that seeing them grow up with families of their own was a source of great pride for her.

Devoted to her church family at First Baptist Junction, she volunteered in Vacation Bible School and on numerous committees over the years while living in Junction. She touched countless lives with her outgoing personality and optimistic attitude. An avid collector of stuffed bears and other collectibles, she loved to cook and spend time with her dogs Mia and Zoe. She was loved by all her family and friends and will be missed dearly.

Melanie is survived by her parents Susie and Larry Maddux of Granbury TX, brother Jeffrey Warren Maddux of Dallas TX, as well as Danny Jr., Wesley, & Brian Branaman, Shawna Watson and family as well as many, many cousins and friends.
