Leona Florence Meredith May 92, of Kerrville Texas was called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. She was a member of the Junction Highway Church of Christ in Kerrville. She was preceded in death by; her husband, Daniel Webster May, her daughter, Sharon May Jenkins, her daughter, Leona Don May Carlile and her grandson, Daniel May. She is survived by; her daughter, Barbara May Wyatt of Kerrville, her son, Daniel “Butch” May of Houston, her son Preston May of Burnet, her brother, Donny Meredith of San Antonio and her sister, Helen Fredrick, 10 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
Leona was born in Forsan Texas to Jefferson and Cleo Meredith on February 20, 1929. The family moved to Junction when she was 10. She attended school in Junction and was a member of the Future Homemakers of America during high school. She married her love Daniel Webster May in October of 1947. She was a member of the First Baptist Church where she faithfully served in the Choir and in the nursery for many years. She had a deep love of God, family and church. She loved children and would often be seen caring for the children. Even during her last years, we would find her surrounded by her great-great grandchildren. She loved music and played the piano with skill and had a beautiful singing voice, she passed on that love of music to others and taught piano lessons to those who wanted to learn. Over the last couple of years, she enjoyed playing music and dancing with the kids in the kitchen.
Wow! What an awesome legacy to leave. The lives that are here or have been because of one extraordinary woman saying “yes” to her calling.
Visitation will be held from 5-7PM on Sunday, January 30,2022 at Kimble Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be 10AM on Monday, January 31,2022 at Kimble Funeral Home with burial to follow at Junction City Cemetery.
