Joyce Phillips

Joyce Jenkins Phillips, 87, of Rocksprings, Texas went to be with the Lord on May 31, 2019.

Joyce was born January 16, 1932 at her grandmother Zuberbueler's home in Rocksprings. She was raised by her parents, Franklin Juhan and Bessie Zuberbueler Jenkins on the Diamond Ranch and Jenkins Ranch in Edwards County. She later married William T.B. Phillips; who preceded her in death. Joyce had a servant's heart. She devoted her time and love to people in her community through her volunteer work and special care and attention to others. She volunteered to keep the Barksdale Public Library's door open, transported friends to church when they were no longer able to drive, volunteered as dispatcher for Nueces Canyon EMS, and kept the church nursery. She was well known for delivering Meals on Wheels in Edwards County for many years, and was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Joyce loved living on her ranch and tending to animals. She also loved her Baptist Church and all its members.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and brother, Albert Russell Jenkins.

Those left to honor her memory include her daughter, Kathy Newman and husband David; son, Russell Phillips and wife Myndee; granddaughter, (whom she raised) Melody Plumley and husband Carter; grandson, Jonathan Phillips and wife Elizabeth; granddaughters, Melissa Newman and Jordan Phillips; great-grandchildren, Baylee Jo, Holt, Maya, Angelina, and Ryley.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at the First Baptist Church in Rocksprings with Brother James Hamm officiating. Interment will follow in the Rocksprings Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Jose Fregoso, Stan Cottle, Bobby Cottle, Joe Baker, Carl Hyde, and Mike Grooms. Honorary pallbearer will be O.D. Anderson.

Memorials may be made to Edwards County EMS.
