Joy Ann Flair Townsend, 83, died on June 6, 2026 at a hospice facility in San Angelo. She was born on October 21, 1942 to John E. and Ethel (Brandt) Flair in Higgensville, Missouri. When she was 7, her family moved to a farm in Hale, Missouri.

Joy made her choice to serve God in February 1955. She graduated from Hale High School in 1960. She worked as a secretary for a State Farm claims office for 4 years. She married LaMont O. Townsend on May 16, 1960 and to this union, 4 children were born: Brian, Brent, Kyann, and Kyle. They moved to Scottsbluff, NE in July 1970. She worked and retired from USPS as a rural mail carrier. She lived out her last days in Junction, Texas near 2 of her sons.

Joy is preceded in death by her husband, LaMont, and one great-grandchild.

LaMont and Joy's legacy includes 4 children, Brian and Jean Townsend of Scottsbluff, NE; Brent and Janet Townsend of Junction, TX; Arthur and Kyann Smith of Scottsbluff, NE; and Kyle and Julia Townsend of Junction, TX; 20 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Joy is also survived by her older sister, Johnna Lou Townsend.

Funeral services will be held 10 am on Friday, June 12, 2026 at the Kimble Funeral Home Chapel with Carl Hamilton, Diann Newhouse, and Lynae Hunt officiating, and music by Caroline Potter. Interment will follow at Junction City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Kimble Funeral Home.
