Jo Evans

Jo Fred Burt Evans, 90, a lifelong resident of Kimble County, entered into rest on June 12, 2019. Born in December 1928 to Dr. John Fred and Sadie Oliver Burt, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Marche Levinson and Imogene Burt and her beloved son, James Frederick Evans.

Jo Fred was active in the community and business life as a rancher and business owner; she also assisted in cataloging the herbarium for Texas Tech Extension at Junction, and was a member of the Master Naturalist. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Chemistry and Biology from Mary Hardin Baylor College, Belton in 1948 and her Master's degree in Economics from Trinity University, San Antonio in 1967.

She is survived by her children, Charles, his wife Victoria, John, and Elizabeth; grandchildren, Sam Evans, his wife Taylor, and Christine Evans and fiance Brandon Higgins; and great-grandchildren, Madilyn, Lake, and Finn Evans.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at Trinity Episcopal Church with interment following at Junction City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 5-7:00 PM, Monday at Kimble Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Kimble County Museum, Kimble County Library or Trinity Episcopal Church.
