James Edwin Hodges, 69, resident of Grand Prairie, Texas passed away on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at his home.

ation will be held 57:00 PM, Friday, February 7, 2014 at Kimble Funeral Home in Junction, Texas. Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM, Saturday, February 8, 2014 at the Junction City Cemetery.

James was born July 16, 1944 in Houston, Texas to Frances Lane Hodges and Margaret Hendrix Hodges. He grew up and went to school grades 112 in Junction where he was very active in all sports. He went on to volunteer in the U.S. Army and served two Vietnam War tours before he was honorably discharged in 1971. He later began his career as a truck driver until his work accident in 2002 which left him paralyzed.

James was a life member of the Paralyzed Veterans of America PVA, Dallas Chapter a member of the Elks Lodge, Irving Chapter VFW, Grand Prairie Chapter, American Legion, Dallas Chapter and an Honorary Retired Member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union Local 745, Dallas, Texas. Jamess hobbies were hunting, fishing, boating and vacationing with all family members.

James married Beverley Haynes Hodges of Kingsville, Texas in 1970.

James was preceded in death by his father mother two siblings, Eugene Hodges and Shirley Hodges Perryman and brotherinlaw, Lynn Thomas Hayes.

James is survived by his wife of 44 years, Beverley son, James Layne Hodges daughter, Candace Lyn Hodges motherinlaw, Vevia Haynes sisterinlaw, Shirley Hayes and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kimble County Museum for the veterans or charity of your choice.
