Irene Ilda Andrews, 81, of Junction passed from this life on July 20, 2016 at a hospital in San Antonio.

Irene was born January 11, 1935 to Julius and Ilda Bruns Hunger in Kimble County. She graduated from Junction High School in 1954 and then attended Texas State University. She married Michael Craig Andrews and had three children - two sons, Scott and Terry and a daughter, Susan. Irene worked various jobs and owned OST, a western wear store, for several years. She received her Nurse's Aide certificate and worked for nursing homes and home health care. She retired after working for Knopp Nursing Home in Fredericksburg. Irene was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church and loved volunteer work. She ran the St. Jude's activities in Kimble County and was the originator of the annual basketball tournaments in Junction that benefit St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Irene was family oriented and would do anything needed to support them. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Irene is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Terry Andrews.

Those left to honor her memory include her sister, Nettie Smith of Junction; son, Scott Andrews of Junction; daughter, Susan Meeker of Phoenix, AZ; grandson, Ty Andrews of San Marcos; and granddaughters, Kayla Meeker and Nikki Meeker of Phoenix, AZ.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction with Rev. Jim and Rev. Laurie Barker officiating.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Irene Andrews.
