Helen Kimbrough

Helen Mae Dunnam Kimbrough, 87 of Junction, Texas passed away on January 2, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family.

Helen was born March 19, 1931 in Water Valley, Texas. She was the daughter of William Otto Dunnam and Eunice Maudie (Judy) Ake Wiggington. She was also the step daughter of Joe Bailey Wiggington. Helen grew up in Brady and Mason, Texas near her aunts, uncles and her many cousins who were more like siblings.
Helen attended high school in Cisco, Texas with her best friend Bille Faye Kimbrough Steffey who introduced mom to her brother John Kimbrough. Mom and Dad fell in love and were married January 1, 1949. She gladly became a road hand's wife, a mother of 5 and a step mom to John's eldest son. After many years of moving and building roads, retirement took them to Chaparral, New Mexico in 1989. In 1999 they then moved back to Spade, Texas where they lived for 2 years. Finally they settled in Junction, Texas where they lived and farmed son in laws, Keaton Blackburn's, land on the Llano River. Mom and Dad celebrated 68 years together before Dad went to heaven. Mom missed him with every ounce of her heart and was ready to join him. Mom missed their anniversary by a few hours but is with him now.
Mom was talented at crochet, sewing and cooking. She loved her family and her life.

Mom was preceded in death by her soulmate, John Kimbrough; beloved parents, Judy and Joe Wiggington; step-son, Michael Joe Pope; son-in-law, Richard Thomas MD; brother-in-laws, Richard Kimbrough, Fred Hagler and James Steffey and parent-in-laws, Harold and Willie Lee Kimbrough.

Helen is survived by her children: Johnna Kay (Keaton) Blackburn, Paulette Newlin, Connie Kimbrough, Candy (Martin) Poduska and Monty Kimbrough; 14 grandchildren: Tonya Johnson, John Thomas, Chris Thomas and Angie Spann, Paula Kay Curry, James (Bo) Atkins, Laci Newlin, Jimmy Page, Alethia DeBerry, Shelby Montgomery, Elliot Poduska, Stephanie Poduska, Justin Kimbrough and Monica Kimbrough; 28 great-grandchildren; 11 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Billie Faye Steffey; and sister in law, Alynda Kimbrough; nephews: Mike Finch, Harold (Buzz) Hagler and James Steffey; nieces: Fredda Eastep, Rhonda Kimbrough, Traci Epps, Nicki Kimbrough and Rochelle Kimbrough and many other cousins.

What though the radiance
Which was once so bright
Be now forever taken
From my sight.
Though nothing can
Bring back the hour
Of splendor in the grass
Of glory in the flower
We will grieve not behind.
Rather find
Strength in what
remains behind.
