Gully Cowsert Jr., 86, of Junction, Texas passed away on December 5, 2014 at his residence.

Gully Cowsert Jr. the son of Captain Gully Cowsert and Mary Keesee was born November 6, 1928 on the Cowsert Ranch fifteen miles West of Junction. Gully Jr. grew up on the same ranch and attended his first two years of elementary school in the Copperas Schoolhouse. The Family moved to Junction in 1937 so that the older children could attend high school.

Gully Jr. attended Sul Ross University graduating in 1950. He went into the army and saw active duty with a chemical mortar battalion in Korea. Upon return in 1952 he married Polly Pilant.

In 1963 Gully attended the Texas Fish and Game Commission currently Texas Parks Wildlife academy and worked as a game warden for 7 years, when an opening occurred near Kimble County in 1969 he transferred to Fort McKavett state historic site where he was the superintendent and state peace officer and later began the South Llano State park where he retired.

He was preceded in death by his brother, K. Cowsert and sister, Mary Katherine Meriweather.

Survivors include his wife of 62 years Polly Cowsert daughters, Katherine Cowsert Jacoby, Karen Maynard husband Stephen son, Gully Cowsert III who was the third Gully Cowsert to graduate from Junction High School and his wife Betty Sue. Surviving grandchildren are Kate and Sean Maynard and Gully Cowsert IV.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, December 8, 2014 at the First Presbyterian Church in Junction with Rev. Jim Barker and Rev. Laurie Barker officiating. Interment will follow in Copperas Cemetery. ation will be held 57:00 PM, Sunday at Kimble Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Junction or the Kimble County Volunteer Fire Department.
