Fred Bert Phillips, 87, passed from this life at his home in Junction TX on Saturday, November 8, 2014. He died peacefully with family and a special friend at his side.
Fred was born November 29, 1926 in Kimble County, TX the son of Charles Craten and Annie Kathryn Phillips. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Dorothy Nell Barker. They were married on March 15, 1950 and were blessed with two sons, Fred Steven and Roland Scott. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Nell Craig and one brother, Hollis Phillips.
Fred was a member of the Church of Christ since the age of 13. He was a very successful businessman and rancher throughout his life. He enjoyed his time in the mountains of Ruidoso, NM, watching horse races and would go anywhere to support his kids and grandkids and watch their sporting events. Fred was a strong and yet gentle giant, a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory are son, Steve Phillips and wife, De of Fredericksburg, TX and their children, daughter Amy Phillips of Ruidoso, NM, daughter Laura Sublett and husband, Marty and their children, Taylor, Isaac and Darcy of Johnson City, TX, daughter Kalli Jackson and husband, Aaron and their children, Hudson and Lakota of Bandera, TX, daughter Stefanie Feller and husband, Cole of Little Rock, AR, son Scott and wife, Patti Phillips of Junction, TX and their children, daughter April and husband Rob McAdams and children, Madison and Macy of Junction, TX, son Craten and wife, Wendy Phillips and children, Hunter, Ryder and Harper of Sonora, TX, daughter Courtney Phillips and Farroll Campbell and son Grayson of Galveston, TX, along with one brother, Kay Phillips of Junction, TX, many nieces and nephews and a very special friend and amazing lady, Jeneva Bryant.
The family will receive friends at Kimble Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11, 2014.
Celebration of life services will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at the College Street Church of Christ in Junction with burial to follow at the Junction City Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Rob McAdams, Marty Sublett, Cole Feller, Aaron Jackson, Farroll Campbell, Joe Carl Barker, Jerry Barker and Hollis Phillips III. The family request memorials to the Kimble County Meals on Wheels, the Cherokee Childrens Home or a charity of choice.
