Fred Matthew Bowers, 64, of Junction, Texas passed from this life on December 11, 2021 at a hospital in San Antonio.

Fred was born October 3, 1957 in Del Rio, where he also spent his childhood.  He married Carlene Low on April 5, 1980 at the First United Methodist Church in Junction.  Fred was a long-time scout master for troop 420, an avid band booster for the Junction Eagle Band, and pulled their band trailer. He retired from the Texas Department of Transportation; after retiring, ran Fred’s Fried Chicken in Junction; and for a short time had Big Bear Pilot Car Service.  He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association.

Fred is preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Bernice (Polston) Bowers; and sister, Earlene Bowers.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Carlene Bowers; sons, Kyle Bowers, Kevin Bowers; daughter, Katie Bowers; grandson, Kaiden Bowers, niece, Tanya Bowers; two great-nieces and two great-nephews.

Fred was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and will be eternally missed by his family.

Graveside services will be held 11:00AM, Wednesday, December 15, 2021 at Junction City Cemetery.

Visitation will be held 5:30-6:30 PM, Tuesday at Kimble Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to Nurses for Kimble County or the Kimble Hospital Foundation.
