Florence Murr

Florence Ellen Sheppard Murr of Granbury, 93, passed away Saturday, November 12, 2016.

Florence was born August 7, 1923, in Cameron, Texas, to Thomas and Anna Mae Cook Sheppard.

She was a resident of The Cove of Waterview Assisted Living. Florence and her husband, J.W. Murr, retired to Granbury from Kennedale in 1979. They then moved home to Junction. After J.W. passed away, Florence moved back to Granbury in 2013, to be near her family.

Florence was a member of Granbury Church of Christ, former member of Ladybug Garden Club and last charter member of Daedalian Study Club of Junction and a former Girl Scout Troop Leader.
Her claim to fame: Florence baked her signature cake for family reunions which has became an annual tradition and challenge to duplicate by family reunion attendees.
Prior to retirement from Cedar Fiber Inc. in Kennedale, Florence served as secretary to then-governor of Texas, Coke Stevenson; and later as assistant city secretary for the city of Euless.

She was preceded in death by husband of 68 years, J.W. Murr; both parents; sisters, Louise Brison and Theda Marie (Micky) Murr; and brother Keidel Sheppard.

Florence is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Max Pyron; grandson, Nik Pyron and family, all of Granbury; sisters-in-law, Dorthy Murr and Ruby Sheppard, both of Junction, and numerous nieces and nephews as well as a great number of dear friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM, Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Kimble Funeral Home in Junction, Texas with Brandon Pierce officiating. Interment will follow in the Junction City Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 5-7:00 PM, Wednesday at Kimble Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Kiwanis Club of Lake Granbury, St. Jude Children's Hospital or Nurses for Kimble County.

Arrangements are under the direction and personal care of the professionals at Kimble Funeral Home.
