Edward Lee Joy, 75 of Lufkin, TX  passed from this life on Monday, November 7, 2022 at a care facility in Jasper, TX.

Edward was born on November 4, 1947 in Fredericksburg, TX to parents Harry Ollie “Dutch” Joy and Ruby Leona Carey Joy.  He was raised in Roosevelt TX and attended Junction High School and Angelo State University.  Later in life he became a resident of Lufkin, TX and enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and all kinds of wildlife.  He spent most of his life hunting on ranches as a guide and cooking for hunters.  Some of the ranches he worked on were in Del Rio, the Y.O and in Lufkin.  He loved cooking and enjoyed doing so for large crowds, especially family reunions and special events.  He entered Bar-B-Que cook offs and won first prize as some of his accomplishments.  His love for cooking and serving people led him to owning and operating Ed’s Old Windmill Restaurant on Canyon Dam.  Edward also loved machinery and taught himself how to operate many different types of equipment.

He is survived by his children, son David Joy and family of Bandera, TX and daughter Janet Russ and grandson, Reagan of Kerrville, TX; mother Ruby Joy of Roosevelt, TX and sister Jean Goodall Pearce of Woodlands, TX. 

 

He is preceded In death by his father, H.O “Dutch” Joy and two brothers, Ollie and Preston Joy of Roosevelt, TX.

 

A graveside service will be held at 11AM on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Joy Ranch with The Barkers officiating the service.
