Edmond F. Dayton

Edmond F. Dayton, husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was united with our Lord on May 15, 2022.  He was born in London, Texas to Jack and Eunice Dayton.  After graduating high school, Ed entered Texas A&M and majored in Civil Engineering and Business.

After completing a course at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona, Ed returned home for the summer to London.  This is where he met the love of his life, Irene Pugh.  They were married December 24, 1953.  Soon after, Ed was drafted into the Army and was stationed at Ft. Sill, Oklahoma where he served two years in the 46th Armored Infantry Battalion.  Ed was a skilled marksman.

After serving his time, Ed and Irene returned to Texas.  In 1956, Ed joined his father in the family business of Dayton Oil Company.

Ed’s favorite enjoyable time was flying his Mooney for which he won numerous awards.  Ed also enjoyed fishing and playing golf.  One could always find Ed enjoying his coffee mornings at the round table at Isaack’s; socializing with his buddies.

Ed was an active member of the Lion’s Club and served as Deputy Governor and District Governor.

One can not go without mentioning Ed’s strong faith, values and love for his family.  His sense of humor and smile will be dearly missed by all.  Ed was a man of integrity.

Ed is preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Richard C. Curry, and nephew, Jayme Cardwell.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Irene Dayton; daughters, Cindy Kramer (Ronnie) and Christy Curry; grandchildren, Stacey Jenschke (Justin), Heather Vascassenno (Vito), Shelby Curry; great-grandchild, Jorie Jenschke; sister, Alice Cardwell (Dudley); nieces, Denise Krieger (Paul), and Janet Cardwell Davis; two great-nieces and five great-nephews.
