Junction Charlene Frances Long, 83, died Tuesday, Nov. 2, 2010, in Junction, Texas.

Frances was born in 1927 in San Saba, Texas, to Willie Lee Rahl Lang and Charles Lang and lived in Goldthwaite before she moved to San Benito, Texas in grade school. She lived there graduated high school and then married Eldon.

She received a bachelors degree from The University of Corpus Christi and a masters degree with honors from The Corpus Christi State University. She taught reading in Corpus Christi at Driscoll Jr. High, Browne Jr. High, Cullen Jr. High, Carroll High School, and Del Mar College. She was an officer in the Del Mar Faculty Wives Club and an organizer of San Benito Greyhound reunions.

An avid hunter, Frances said she loved the four seasons turkey, deer, dove and quail. After her retirement, she and Eldon bought a ranch in the Hill Country before moving to Hill Country Care Center in Junction.

Her family and friends will miss her wit, her vivacious personality, and her loving spirit.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years Eldon Long and four children, Sherrie Linsteadt, Terry Long Mary Ann, Charla Long, and Jim Long Karen ten grandchildren ,Tina Thorpe Mullener Robert, Kelley Linsteadt Chavez Tony, Cori Linsteadt, Karyn Linsteadt, Carrie Long Brenon John, and Blair Long Cuherpin Daryle, Billy Lindley Lindsay, Christiaan Shaddock, Jonathan Shaddock Brandi, Connor Shaddock Elizabeth and nine great grandchildren Maryn Corkran, Brooke Lindley, Mattisen Rivera, Abigail Brenon, Aiden Brenon, Peter Chavez, Jack Chavez, Teddy Chavez, Bradyn Lindley, Johnathon Mullener, and Addison Brenon.

A memorial will be held in Corpus Christi at 1 p.m. November 5 at St. Lukes Methodist Church and a memorial service will be schedule later to scatter her ashes over her beloved ranch west of Roosevelt.
