Mike McCullough, 78, passed from this life on November 27, 2012 at his residence in Junction, Texas.
Mike was born March 2, 1934 in Buffalo, Texas to Clyde Carter and Leora Taylor McCullough. He married his college sweetheart, Myrna Loy Dacus on November 23, 1957 at the Central Church of Christ in Houston, Texas.
As a young man, Mikes family moved to LaPorte during the war and then to Channel View. He graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. While in high school he played football and worked as a butcher. He enjoyed his summers working the ranch and breaking horses with his grandfather J.T. Taylor in Junction. He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in mechanical engineering. He joined Monsanto in 1961 working 35 years in the Chocolate Bayou, Texas City, and Soda Springs facilities. He retired in 1996 as the Plant Manager, Soda Springs, ID having proudly worked with his many friends at that site and in that capacity for 13 years.
Family was everything to Mike and they could always be found working projects together. He took pride in being able to build, repair, or modify anything. He enjoyed a good project and working on the family farms and ranches in Idaho and Texas. He also enjoyed hunting and fishing with his kids and grandkids. You could find him surrounded by family and friends every September, camped at Stump Creek, knapping flint arrowheads, bow hunting elk, and fly fishing for cutthroats.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Carter McCullough grandson, Don Michael McCullough grandparents, J.T. and Bertha Taylor and his aunt, Sylvia Chapman.
Those left to honor and cherish his memory include his wife of fiftyfive years, Myrna McCullough children, Mike McCullough, Jr. Darla of Santa Fe, TX, Marty McCullough Donna of Soda Springs, ID Molly McCullough Stein Ron of Soda Springs, ID Mickey McCullough Dee of Soda Springs, ID eleven grandchildren, Krissy Gibson Brody, Mike McCullough III, Kaylee McCullough, JT Stein, MollyKate Stein, Genny Joe McCullough, Kathryne McCullough, Carter McCullough, Will McCullough, Blair Casey, and Meghan Casey greatgrandchild, Coeta Gibson brother, Jerry McCullough Barbara sister, Marilyn Thibedeaux James and his loving 97 yearold mother, Leora Gregory of Shiner, TX.
A memorial service was held November 30, in Junction with Brother Bob Schmeltekopf officiating. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at 12:00 noon at the Soda Springs Baptist Church with Pastor David Zimmerman officiating. ation will be Tuesday, December 4, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 and from 10:3011:30 the day of the service at Sims Funeral Home. Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery in Soda Springs, Idaho.
