Billy Ivy

Ms. Billy Ivy of London, TX passed away peacefully and on her own terms Thursday July 25th, 2019.

Born November 29th, 1929 in Austin, Texas, she was the daughter of the late Eve Spruell and Tybo Ivy.

Ms. Ivy was a spitfire, Matriarch. She is survived by two children: her son and his wife, Stephen and Kathleen McCallister; their five children: Stephanie, Steven, Sheryl-Ann, Seth, and the late Sean McCallister, and their many children; Ms. Ivy's daughter, Sheri Ivy of London; Sheri's children and grandchildren: Dawn and Jamie Mork and children Dylan, Kaitlyn, and Nathan; Sara Parker, JP and Corbin; Eve Parker and daughters MacKenzie and Ireland; and Noah Ivy; Ms. Ivy had two nieces Sherrill Silk and Sylvia Silk-Hicks. Ms. Ivy is also predeceased by her daughter, Vera Stephenson. Vera was survived by her husband and two children, Jason and Tony Stephenson.

Ms. Ivy could bake the best dessert you ever had, retile her whole floor flawlessly, and beat you at poker all in one breath. She traveled the world, taking in all she could, learning and practicing with artists as she went. She finally returned home to London, TX to care for her father in his late years. This led to her becoming the devoted owner of the London Grocery and Grill and eventually the London Dance Hall. Rain or shine she was a business woman and an artist. If asked what enlivened Ms. Ivy's soul it was her painting. No matter what she was juggling, she always found time to return to her easel. She had a passion for capturing the Texas Hill Country, her true home. She loved cooking homemade meals for her returning patrons. She didn't like small talk but respected getting straight to the heart of something. She was resilient and she was feisty. She will be sorely missed.

Family and friends are invited to show their respects and celebrate the life of Ms. Ivy on Sunday August 4th at the London Community Center. There will be a meal served from 12-1:30pm, viewing and visitation from 2-3:30pm, with service by Brother Jeffers at 3:30pm. Graveside service will follow at Little Saline Cemetery.
