Bettie Elrod

Bettie Bailey Elrod, age 90, passed away Sept. 17,2013 at Hill Country Care Center in Junction, Texas. Funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, 904 Main, in Junction, Friday, Sept. 20 at 1:30 P.M.

Bettie was born Aug. 6, 1923 in San Angelo, Texas. Her parents, George and Gertrude Bailey were lifelong residence of San Angelo, having Bailey Auto for about 40 years.

Bettie married her high school sweetheart, Norman Elrod, on Dec. 24, 1944. They began their life ranching in Rankin. They moved to Odessa in 1967 where Bettie worked for the Ector County School Administration until retirement.

Bettie is survived by her only child, Judy Ramsey and her husband Jerry of Junction. She is also survived by her grandson, Kyle Clary and his wife Helen of Burlington, North Carolina and their children Parker and Peyton and granddaughter Kelly Clary of Odessa and her children Bailey, Tatum, and Canon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and her sister Corrine Holt.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Hill Country Care Center, Odyssey Hospice, and Dr. Alberto Martinez for their compassionate care that provided a peaceful environment during her final years.

In lieu of floral arrangements, memorials may be sent to the First United Methodist Church of Junction for House of Faith Ministries.
