Alton Roy Russell, 74, passed away on January 25, 2026, at a hospital in San Angelo. Born on April 24, 1951, in Boise, Idaho, Alton's family move to Grangeville, Idaho, in 1952, where he attended school and graduated in the class of 1969.
Alton's passion for mechanics began as a teenager when he started working on cars. Early on in his career, he was a truck driver and then later a heavy equipment operator. Mechanics later became a passion for restoring vehicles, In his later years, Alton rebuilt five 1980's model Chevrolet trucks and brought them back to life. Beyond his professional accomplishments, Alton enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He often reminisced about the steelhead trout from Idaho.
He is survived by his brother, Hurshel Russell of Sisters, Oregon; nephew, Loyd Russell; and a host of friends. Alton was preceded in death by his parents, Georgia and Lonnie Russell, and his beloved wife, Lilly Fisher.
A memorial service to honor Alton's life will be held on February 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Kimble Funeral Home with Michael Miller officiating.
