A.D. Stapp


A.D. Stapp passed away Wednesday, February 08, 2017 at Alpine Terrace Nursing Home in Kerrville, Texas at the age of 91. A.D. was born August 20, 1925 on a farm near Tankersley in Tom Green County, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his wife Ima Josephine Edwards Stapp and adopted daughter Harla Jean Palmer Hart, father Acy Franklin Stapp, mother Carrie Josephine Harriss Stapp and his brothers Alfred Stapp, T. J. Stapp, Arvil F. Stapp,
Gene Walter Stapp, Sr., Acy Harold Stapp, Kenneth Stapp, George Elmo Stapp and granddaughter Karan Hart Woodward.

He is survived by his grandson Robert Carl Hart and wife Jean of D'Hanis and Sharan Hart Belcher and husband Wally of Kerrville, brother John A. Stapp and wife Rosanna of Junction as well as great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A.D. grew up in Junction, Texas. He spent his younger years working with his father and brothers and also spent time working in the oil fields of West Texas. A.D. served in the Marine Corps from October 1943 to March 1946. He was
a member of the landing force at Guam in the Mariana Islands on July 21, 1944 where he was wounded and sent back to the ship. A.D. then returned to the Marine Corps Depot of Supplies at Barstow, California where he finished his
enlistment period. He received the Navy Unit Commendation ribbon, USMC Rifle Sharpshooter badge and the Purple Heart medal during his tour of duty. A.D. spent two years working for a mining company in Mexico. He later became
a plumber working with his brothers and then operated his own plumbing business in Fort Stockton, Texas.

A.D. married Ima Edwards on January 20, 1962, and they continued operating a plumbing business in Fort Stockton until they retired. After their retirement they spent time at their place on Lake Amistad. At the time of his wife Ima's
death January 2, 2000 they were living in Junction, Texas. A. D. spent the later years of his life between Junction and Kerrville where he resided when he passed away.
